Ralph Cecilio, A Teaching Legacy
Sir Ralph Cecilio
We know him as the ogre who threatened our everyday English literature life. I had first seen this person when I was 6 years old, a pre-schooler at Corpus Christi School. I was with my playmates one morning and decided to go up the high school classrooms. I could still remember which classroom I saw that American looking teacher on the third floor. I could only see half of his body in front of the black board. The next time I saw this teacher was when I was in 4th grade. We were staying at the high school canteen waiting for our music class to start. We were happily staring at the floor out of boredom and doing nothing on a hot afternoon when a hug man went by and stopped in front of us and said, "you all look so quiet" and walked away. Those were his exact words and we all laughed. When I was able to reach high school in the same institution where I started studying, I was to recognized the same teacher who approached my friends and I way back. I then found out that he was an english teacher, he was very good-natured, but a lot of older kids would say that he was one of those teachers who would throw your term paper at you when he returns them and treats it like trash. He was the monster who was famous for calling his students morons and idiots. He was the well known big blob who could ruin your grades because your performance was crap. He was that same reason why every time I enter the campus, a hundred of senior students were all cramped up at the circle of life writing on intermediate papers. He was that big scary Caucasian looking man who walked the halls of the heads high and tummy first. I couldn't believe he was that scary, I was also confused because around school he had lots of friends, especially his students, he was one hell of a teacher. At last, my last year of high school came, I was at last a senior, and I was going to have a taste of what it was being a Ralph Cecilio student. Hells yeah!HE WAS AWESOME!!I didn't mind the torturing words and jokes he threw at whoever student he wanted to pick on. His life stories and love life were often crap and funny. He was always cute even if he gave a very long test back to back vocabulary test every Friday. We always end up acing our tests. He was that same person who made us write sonnets and poems and everything literary. He was an amazing teacher! His literary movies were something to look forward to, maybe that's because he lets us eat. Every morning he brings a tray of brownies and some other sweets for us to buy and those sweets would be the same treat we would happily munch every movie time with him. Every time I see him at the mall he would always have this very bog smile and would wave at you. He looks like this very old man who has a kid's heart. He's a happy go lucky brute. I will always treasure the memories he shared not just to me but especially to those students he has encouraged, loved and inspired. Through the years his teaching legacy remains in the halls of Corpus Christi School, and will always leave a mark in every part of the campus. A heads up to one of the best teachers the intuition has ever had! Sir Ralph Ceclio! We salute you! More power and our prayers are always there for your health!
