Existence

Existence
Have you ever thought about your existence?  Why you have the life that you are living right now?  Have you ever thought about what your being can do and how it can influence others?
Since the beginning of time, great Philosophers like Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato have made it a point to discuss and exam the entity of existence.  Existence has also been differentiated from Essence.  There have been a lot of philosophical discussions and issues surrounding this subject.
For me, it’s simple, I live my existence according to what I want society to be in the future and I what I want to gain from society.
Growing up, I wanted to become an entrepreneur, to become rich and successful. But, is my own materialistic satisfaction enough to say that I’m already successful? This is what I used to think. I then grew up, and realized that life isn’t just a bed of roses. A lot of people are suffering more than I could ever imagine while I am here worrying about nonsense and materialistic matters.

I thought about what really is my purpose and I felt this urge of wanting to be part of something big.

It dawned into me that I wanted change.  I wanted to aware the youth that young as they are they can be part of something big. A tiny speck of participation can gear up to a whole new level of Nation Building.

Nation Building isn’t just about building houses, serving the poor, working for others, but it’s about doing something for the country and for the countrymen to do something for themselves and their fellow. Like what the old teaching goes, ‘give man fish and he will live for a day, teach him how to fish and he lives for a lifetime’.

Being exposed to civic organizations and movements has been a big help in my development. I used to think that these organizations were the reasons why I feel for others. As I look deeper, I realize that I am serving others not because of this organization, not that I am required to, but because my heart is hungry for change.  It is my own heart that made me feel and think this way.

My passion led me to my own knowing of my existence and it let me to learn about my ignorance.  My journey of knowing the truth of my drive to make the world a better place has made me realize of how ignorant I am of so many things.

I have realized that I make my own purpose of this world happen because I make others see the value of my existence.

From a national hero who once said that the youth is the future of the motherland, I now say that the future is now.  Why wait for the future, when we can do something for the future? We are all dreamers, we dream of a better world, a better government, but are I am tired of just being dreamers, I will become a dream maker. Praying is good, praying is one of the best ways of attaining peace, but is mere praying enough? I have decided to become to my own prayers. Let’s help uplift this society and be prime movers of this state. Let us all together build a future filled with hope, a hope that must start within us, within me.
