PADRE DE PAMILYA Review and Reflection

Padre de Pamilya is an independent film by director Cesar Evangelista Buendia. It is a film that’s real and honest. It has the country’s culture of corruption and values and how it was able to affect Filipino families. It is also a film that reflect what the current times are doing to the Catholic Families in the Philippines. The film illustrated a father who loved his family that because of financial issues he was able to do  inappropriate actions just so he could satisfy the needs of his loved ones. He was tempted by money and what it could give to his family. Fortunately, his criminal act was caught by the media and was thus sent to jail. His children also suffered from social injustice. It was a different film from what is usually seen by people. It was something realistic and is currently happening to the country and in every Filipino household. The main question to be asked here is what does a person need to prioritize, the ones that he loves, such as his family, or God;...

Ralph Cecilio, A Teaching Legacy

Image
Sir Ralph Cecilio We know him as the ogre who threatened our everyday English literature life. I had first seen this person when I was 6 years old, a pre-schooler at Corpus Christi School. I was with my playmates one morning and decided to go up the high school classrooms. I could still remember which classroom I saw that American looking teacher on the third floor. I could only see half of his body in front of the black board. The next time I saw this teacher was when I was in 4th grade. We were staying at the high school canteen waiting for our music class to start. We were happily staring at the floor out of boredom and doing nothing on a hot afternoon when a hug man went by and stopped in front of us and said, "you all look so quiet" and walked away. Those were his exact words and we all laughed. When I was able to reach high school in the same institution where I started studying, I was to recognized the same teacher who approached my fri...

Greatness

I learned a lot of things from the Summit last Saturday. One thing that will always stay in my mind is this, as what a good speaker and friend Tope Rivera said, "..we do not use our greatness to step down on others." It was a stand up point moment where you know that there is really a possibility for change in this country. If all of us, rich or poor, great or weak think about these words and put them into action in their everyday life, then, we would be having a wonderful nation. Change is both good and bad. There are a hundred different possibilities for change to happen, but without the risk of making changes can we never know what might become of that one speck of change, what outcome could have been created, who or what could have benefited form that simple change. Some people are greatly affected by change, but we could not always just sit around and stay at the risk free side, the safe side. We must go out of our shells to prove something to the world. I myself h...

The day when She blabbered everything that happened

MS has this obviously undeniable adoration for this certain guy I haven't met and I would like to think that I would never meet. All there was to it was that first, she talked about the whole thing that happened last Tuesday, which seemed like a prologue. We was about to rant about everything so I was ready for the blow of words. I didn't expect her to start the whole novel with "straight iyang ngion". What's that suppose to mean?! Does the cucumber that's worth a dollar mean anything? I mean really? She cracked up at my complaining about the cucumber issue. She doesn't have to say anything about the grocery store! Does she even know that? Anyway, she went on about her going to the youth thing, and she was late, what kinda responsibe Christ advocate is that? Something is really wrong with MS. She continued on talking and laughing, talking about how he was beside her, same side as her dimples. How he smiles with those straight teeth(erlack!). How ...

Remember High school at Corpus Christi School?

There are those days in high school where you wake up one morning and realize, 'hey, wasn't I suppose to be studying last night?'. There were some days in high school when you found yourself staring at the teacher without thinking about what he was trying to teach you but what the world was about to offer you when the class is over. There are times when you'd think, "hmm, asa kha mi mag eat after class?" or those instances when your friends would invite you for tempura outside school and hog every spot to clumsily gobble down every savory inch of the sweet sauce that manong has been selling for a decade and that no vendor can compare to. There were those trying moments when everybody was getting more than two pierces and that's not just for girls, and you thought, "kasaban kha kong teacher nene?" Every inch of you're body would start to ich when you know you don't have anything to write on the blank answer sheet in front of you and tha...

Personal Journal Entry JULY 31, 2005

Today's July's birthday. I already sent him a text message early this morning. He said thanks and i love you. He also sent a follow-up message asking me to go to mass the coming tuesday 'cause my bestfriend had something for me, maybe a letter. I talked to my all-time crush FVSJ last friday. And we won the annual cheering competition at our high school. We had a gradeschool barkada reunion after the competition. It wasn't that lavish, we jst ate at a local food chain at one of the local malls. We had fun and I thought it was awsome. There was a downside to our whole reunion though, Bling's phone got stolen, by girl who stood beside her in line to order. I bought a Harry Potter book today, volume 6 And I'm really crushing on my bestfriend's crush. We became kinda close though. Oh and I went shopping, some shirts and a pair of jeans. -such a innocent Junior High School student.;p
